“Alex-” The admiral breaks off for a moment and takes a deep breath. “Shepard, you aren’t a child anymore. Admit to it, and I won’t ground you for the next week.”

She raises an eyebrow and just starts trying to rub the blood off of her sweater, only succeeding in rubbing it in more.  She just rolls up her sleeves instead.  

“I live a painfully mundane life,” she replies, impossible to tell if she’s joking or being serious.

That one earns a small smile as he shuffles around his stack of reports. “Right, because Monica Galey goes to an office and works long hours, only to come home and order out because it’s been such a long day.”
