Her hands shook on the pistol as she aimed it at the killer. “I’ve seen a lot of death, you son of a bitch,” she growled. “And maybe you thought you’d get away clean cos I’ve seen so many die for the greater good that one more wouldn’t phase me. But you thought wrong. I’m tired of it all, tired of watching good men hit the deck because of backstabbing bastards like you.”

She cocked the pistol, leveled it at the Cerberus assassin’s head. “I know exactly what you did to Hackett. I know you made it hurt, because you could. And I know that he was a better man then most anyone in this damn galaxy, and that sure as hell includes you.”

She all but snarled with fury and her green-orange eyes flared. “Maybe I can’t tell him, now, how he said the right thing in a couple places and kept me from giving up in this damn war. Maybe I can’t tell him how many lives he saved running the Crucible and keeping us all fighting. Maybe I can’t tell him that, but I can damn well make sure his killer gets a bolt between the eyes. Fuck you, and tell the devil I said hello.”

She squeezed the trigger.
